Reporting Period

3min

The reporting period is the specific timeframe during which you collect emissions data for your installation to calculate the carbon embedded in your CBAM products.

You calculate this by dividing the total emissions from producing your CBAM goods during the reporting period by the production volume of those goods in the same period. This gives you the carbon intensity in tonnes of CO2 per tonne of CBAM goods produced.

For more details about the reporting period, visit the General Q&A section.

Define your Reporting Period

1

Click the dropdown and select your type of reporting period

Your reporting period is, by default, twelve months, specifically the (European) calendar year. For example, when your EU clients submit CBAM reports in 2024, they should use your emissions data from 2023; when they submit reports in 2025, they should use your data from 2024, and so on.

You may opt for an alternative twelve-month period, such as your fiscal year, if it provides more accurate data. Alternatively, you can use periods shorter than a year, provided they cover at least three months and maintain a comparable level of data quality.

Note: If you use shorter periods, you will need to share data with your clients more frequently to align with your reporting period.
